Is it ever cold outside!!! A lot of us are saying the same thing!!! It doesn’t seem to matter where you are on this continent – north, south, east, west…. bbrrrrr.* And lots of snow. It’s terrific for bundling up and getting out there and having some good old fashioned winter fun.
But here in Toronto we have had next to no snow yet -- this is so very different than the last couple of years where deep snow landed early and stayed around all winter. So today, despite the temperature, I got a head start on early spring garden activities. I went out and took down our twinkling holiday lights and other decorations. Without all that snow, it was so easy to move around!
Then I headed back inside to warm up, grabbed a cup of green tea and went on line to waysidegardens.com to order one of the best-ever garden catalogues – it’s a classic! You can spend hours with this catalogue, dreaming and planning your garden on these cold winter nights!
Wayside Gardens was started in the 1920’s and has grown and flourished over the years. It offers so many unusual, high end plants “for the serious garden enthusiast”. And of course it offers “superior plants and the highest levels of quality”. If you have a moment, take a look at this site with its beautiful images of interesting plants. It is also loaded with information too – including a lot of what you need to know to become a serious gardener!
*One rare exception is British Columbia’s Whistler – we need to get the temperature to drop there so that all that rain can turn to snow as we count down to next month’s Olympics -- I have no doubt that is just about to happen…
