Well, it was not exactly the sunny, dock-filled-days, long-weekend I was hoping for. Truth be told, I spent the entirety of this Victoria Day long weekend tending to a nasty Spring cold…in bed! And while I had visions of getting my garden in shape, I did the next best thing one can do from bed- garden planning from my laptop!

An exquisite purple orchid flower was given to me as a gift this past weekend. And while I adore gardening, the orchid is a plant of which I do not know much about. I’ve always been intrigued, and this magenta beauty has me inspired to learn more. And while it can seem an intimidating bloom to care for, I’m up for the challenge. It can be pretty finicky for the right water, soil and lighting conditions, so definitely worth doing a little research before embarking. I found a useful video clip from askthedecorator.com, and it can be viewed here.
And now over to you- please visit us on facebook to share any tips and advice you might have from your experience with this beautiful bloom.
Sprouts! A super fun, fast, and inexpensive little project to try at home. My friend Katie had some sprouting in her kitchen, and I was so intrigued that she sent me home with all the fixings to make my own little countertop garden.
Once sprouted, all sorts of grains, seeds, and beans absolutely qualify as “super-foods!” Once sprouted, these powerful little guys contain protein, b-vitamins, vitamin c, e, and k, beta carotene, calcium, phosphorous, and iron!
All you need is a large glass jar, your sprouting variety of choice (lots to choose from: chickpeas, alfalfa, lentil, wheat, quinoa, clover, and radish, to name a few), and some fresh water and you’re all set.

Here’s to a healthy and green Spring! Happy Sprouting!
Washroom. Bathroom. Powder Room. Relatively, it’s one of the smaller rooms in our home, yet a place where we can spend a lot of time. Creating a clean, tranquil, and harmonious space can make a big difference towards daily relaxation and taking care of our bodies. The recent Interior Design show here in Toronto had us thinking- and inspired- to make some changes to our own washroom space. And it doesn’t have to be daunting task, as say, re-doing an entire kitchen or living room. Small, simple changes can make a big impact, even on a small budget. A fresh coat of neutral-coloured paint, fluffy new towels, a simple framed print on the wall, and a clean bar of our own French-milled soap. Voila! One day bathroom makeover! And don’t you just love this bathroom by Canadian Designer Sarah Richardson from her hit television show, Sarah’s Cottage. To get you started, here are some fun bathroom design ideas and tips from Canada’s Style at Home Magazine.
